  "One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple." --Jack Kerouac , The Dharma Bums One of my first champion Golden Retrievers was named Matigan Dharma Bum. I think I've always been a fan of Jack Kerouac and romance of the Beat Generation. The poetry. The creativity. The freedom. Art for art's sake.  I have to say, I don't find much inspiration in the Blogger templates. Hop on over to WordPress and the choices are downright paralyzing. Getting back to the opening words of Mr. Kerouac, there is something to be said about the simple, especially when the goal is to draw one's attention to the written word. Social Media is usually rooted in the written word. Brevity is key in the digital age. Our attention spans have atrophied. Twitter. Memes. Vine (RIP). TikTok. Short bursts of dopamine. Week 3 - Part A - Aesthetics, Design, and Branding

JamiLin I totally went down a rabbit whole on JamiLin's site. What a mess! Who the heck is JamiLin? I would have loved it had she told us right away. "I am a 59 year-old woman selling products to make you look younger. I'm also into new age stuff: you name it. Crystals, veganism, meditation, feng shui." Her website could use a little Feng Shui. But then I started clicking around. She's a crack up! Her YouTube videos pull you right in. Then you come to realize that funky horrible website just sucked you in for way longer than you intended. Heck I was clicking on all the wrinkle creams wondering if I too could eliminate my turkey neck with ingredients found in my own kitchen. Oh! Don't use hemorrhoid cream on your face. And on Facebook? She posted 12 times in the last 24 hours. Perhaps this site really works for her? This is not the face of anyone using a professional web designer. This lady proudly states she made it herself. Week 17: Wrapping It Up

 Wrapping It Up This has been my second attempt at this class. Life demands got so great I didn't finish it before. In that class I used my business, Matigan Golden Retrievers, as my project. Even without finishing the class that time I took many tools with me. I had previously only used social media for personal use. I was able to grow my following on Facebook from nothing to 1.6K with limited and irregular posting. My daughter had started an Instagram account for me but I had never learned to use it and she had only put a few pictures on there. Over the last few years I forced myself to use it more because it seemed like Facebook was fading out and Instagram was taking over. Now I have 397 followers. My social media marketing with the breeding business has been successful. In fact too successful. I cannot keep up with all of the calls and messages. That was then and this is now.
