Week 12 Part B: Business Specific Tools

One great way to get your name known is to write a book or even articles for periodicals. A number of SEALs have written articles for Forbes, and Inc. All of the articles are linked online. If you write a book, then reviews will be listed on Amazon, B&N.com, or Goodreads.

Yelp makes me really nervous. People can be passionate in their reviews. One bad review cannot be undone. Google Maps does not make sense for our business. The consulting will be brought to the customer.

BNI - BNI Wave of Success is comprised of local business professionals who meet regularly, in a positive and supportive business environment, to strengthen relationships in the local business community - and to help one-another build business through the exchange of warm referrals and personal introductions.

MeetUp - Good old fashioned MeetUp groups is a great way to informally meet new people, enlarge your network and  have fun at the same time. There are mountain biking meetups, knitting meetups, dog breed specific meetups. You name it.

Rotary Club - I would be remiss if I did not mention the Rotary Club. To join Rotary, you must be invited by a current member. They have two very noble mottos. Service Above Self and One Profits Most Who Serves Best. How better to find purpose in life than by making the world a better place.

Mission: We provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

Vision: Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
