Week 14 Part B: What we Learn from FaceBook Analytics

 Write a thoughtful post (minimum 5 paragraphs) analyzing the information available through your FaceBook Insights from your business page.

If you have this option available, review the FaceBook analytics on the top of your business page in the Admin Panel.  Click on Insights to find more information. Review all the content and write a blog about what has changed this month in your FaceBook analytics. You will need at least 100 page likes to view your analytics. If you do not have likes or followers to see your data, use the data I provided above from my pages. Review what you find and use the information to write up your post about what you can discover from the data that is collected by FaceBook.

Like Google Analytics, Facebook Analytics supply us with key data to determine if our marketing efforts are successful.  To be honest I thought the Page Insights was the same as Facebook Analytics. It was only as I searched it up in Google that I find Google Analytics is a stand alone program that is going away in about a month. Its key elements will be incorporated into Business Suite. I checked out the analytics there and found out data for Instagram will not be available until I have 100 followers. The data is there for Facebook though. Of course this information is also still available under the Insights tab in Manage Page column on the left hand side of the business page.

Under the Insights link, there are 14 categories of data.

  1. Overview:
    • Page Summary. Many of these categories, if clicked on take you to the same charts as below. Here you will find these important metrics: Actions on page, Page Views, Page Likes, Post Reach, Story Reach, Recommendations, Post Engagement, Responsiveness, Videos, Page Follows.
    • Posts: A list of posts with their individual data reporting. This helps to see at a glace which types of posts are working best: photos, videos, links, etc.
    • Pages to Watch: An easy way to see what similar pages are doing so you can stay competitive.
  1.  Followers: There are three benchmarks here: Total Page Followers, Page Followers which shows Unfollows, Organic Page Follows and Paid Page Follows, and Where Your Page Follows Happened which shows Uncategorized Desktop, Uncategorized Mobile, On Your Page, Page Suggestions, and Search. This is important data to show where people are finding you.
  2. Ads: This section gives you feedback on the performance of your paid ads.
  3. Likes: The total number of page likes and how much they have increased or decreased over the past week, as well as new page likes and how they compare to the previous week;
  4. Reach: How many total Facebook users your page or posts reached and the increase or decrease compared to the previous week. It also compares your reach over the past week and how it compares to the previous;
  5. Page Views:
  6. Actions: The number of people who clicked on different areas of your page like your website link, directions, phone number, and action buttons.
  7. Posts: This tells you when your fans are online. incredibly helpful for knowing the best times to schedule posts. It also tells you which types of post do the best for reach and engagement.
  8. Branded Content
  9. Events
  10. Videos: This tells you the highest performing videos. by minutes viewed.
  11. Stories
  12. People: This is fascinating in that it breaks down your fans by gender, by city, by language, and by gender. This is incredibly helpful for targeting.
  13. Messages: Responsiveness, Blocked Rate, New Blocked Connections
  14. Orders

The most important information is in Overview. Below is a screen capture from Trident Pacific Consulting and my other page, Matigan Golden Retrievers. I'll use the latter for analysis because there is more data to look at.

Clicking any of the cards in the Overview section will bring up more detailed information about each.

FOLLOWERS: The number of followers is an important metric to know. Just as important is the growth rate.

I haven't been posting much on either page, and it shows. I don't have a plan for either page yet, just sort of posting at random when something good comes along. I'm looking forward to really digging in and seeing what I can accomplish using the tactic I learned in this class.
